From Grouses' Grail, 3 years ago we were watching...
SPECTACULAR is the only way to describe 3
years ago today's opening ceremonies of the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver, BC. Filled with one special moment after another, some for me
were Chief Dan George's verse at 1:41:27 then the spectacular
fiddles introduced by Tekahionwake's verse at 1:49:12. Or what about at
2:01:23 and W.O. Mitchell's words prefacing one of my favourite songs
of Joni Mitchell's, Both Sides now! Or, how about "Define Canada" at
2:15:50! Then, after the Governor General officially opens the games, at
2:36:40, K.D. Lang silences the crowd singing Leonard Cohen's
Hallelujah. Truly amazing from start to finish, "We didn't just say it,
we made it be". Enjoy them here in their entirety, and be proud to be
Canadians!
